About Traffic rules
TrafficRules.be is a website by Vias institute. This platform brings together the traffic regulations, relevant road traffic legislation and accompanying explanations, making them easily, quickly and clearly accessible to the general public. For this public‑interest mission, Vias institute is supported by the Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport. In addition, Vias institute, as it does through other channels, offers relevant training courses for professionals, operating on a market‑conform basis.
Vias institute is an independent knowledge institute dedicated to improving road safety, mobility, and societal safety. It is primarily known to the general public as the driving force behind the BOB campaigns against alcohol in traffic and for providing insights to the media on current traffic and mobility events.

Where does the content come from?
The various regulations on Traffic rules are taken directly from the Belgian official journal, where both federal and regional legislation is published. Thanks to daily monitoring of the Belgian official journal, the website's content is constantly updated, ensuring that new or amended regulations are made available as quickly as possible.
Although the regulations on this website are taken directly from the Belgian Official Gazette, only the publications in the Belgian official journal are legally valid.
The pages with explanations on various aspects of traffic regulations are based on publications, brochures, and briefings from Vias institute, which are grounded in scientific and legal research.
